Event was organized by the special organizing committee consist of 06 individuals (George Conway, Gudrun Petursdottir, Jennifer Lincolin, Ari Gudmundsson, Jeremy Tuner, Yugraj Yadava) and they were supported by a local organizing committee. Papaers and the presentations were evaluate by the scientific programme planning committee. Whole event was funded by NIOSH, FAO, Icelandic Maritime administration and the University of Iceland.

Conferences activities

54 scientific papers were presented during the ten sessions moderated by the 10 senior scientists. Following aspects were seriously considered and discussed during the 10 session. (Download my paper & presentation from www.ifishconference.org)

  2. Model programmes to identify and mitigate hazards
  3. Vessel stability and watertight integrity
  4. Health and medical care issues
  5. Concerns from the development countries
  6. Improved safety and fishing equipments
  7. Safety and survival education and training
  8. Design improvements of traditional fishing vessels
  9. Works of Iceland marine accident investigation board
  10. Falls over board prevention and rescues

Following field trips were conducted in order to provide the participants with the idea of Iceland and the fisheries activities.

  1. Ice-barker Reception - Hotel Loftleior, Reykjavik
  2. Evening tour of Blue lagoon – Reykjavik
  3. Field trip to Reykjanes peninsula
  4. The golden circle- tour to thingvellir, Gullfoss and geyser
